We gathered in Narrowhaven at the Chapter House at the appointed hour. It was a good turnout and I am always happy to see my fellow Vigilants. I was introduced to our newest recruit, one Aerith Silvanos, who would be joining us on our patrol of Sanctuary. We had decided to go in on foot as the ruins are difficult to navigate even on foot and there are many tunnels below the ruins. I informed everyone we would be pairing up when we got there. Upon arrival Sir Aidan and Sir Ikon teamed up, I asked the Ranger Lemine to team with me as she has a knack for surviving skirmishes, and Knight-Initiate Siara and the new recruit teamed together. We quickly made our way into the ruins, the pairing to be honest lasted until we saw our first foes. Ogre Lords charged towards us and we returned their charge. The first of many.
Sanctuary has always held a certain charm, as deadly as the place is, for me. I do not know the history of the place and I am always amazed at the diversity of it's current inhabitants. No where else do I know of that has Cyclops and Titans alongside Orcs and Ogre Lords, or the peculiar Changelings that roam the ruins. We did well through much of the surface ruins but then I led us down a hole and into one of the several tunnels running beneath the ruins. Unfortunately we found ourselves surronded by several Succubi. The battle did not go in our favor, many Vigilants, including myself, were knocked off our feet. Fortunately, from what I have heard, Sir Aidan and Lemine managed to keep their feet under them and eventually dispatched all our foes. After making sure everyone was alright we made our way up and down the tunnels. We fought many monsters but did not have any seriuos problems. After awhile we returned to the surface and explored some more. The reason for many of our patrols is to search for daemon activities and the presence of so many Succubi ere in Sanctuary was troubling to me
We made our way through the ruins, coming upon many sights including the partial remains of a building. Lemine spoke aloud what I assume we were all thinking....It was awful to see so much loss and destruction. We headed South and eventually came to a wall that we made our way over. The southern end of Sanctuary is walled off from the ruins and is actually quite peaceful. The grass grows in plenty. Though there are ruins they seem to have fallen into decline more naturally then the rest. At the southern most part of the area is a strange setting. A sandstone pavilion is what I shall call it. With braziers on tall stands, elven couches and chairs from the look of them and a strange arcane circle that had sparkles of magic perhaps, floating in the air above it. A strange sight but a pleasantone. We sat briefly and admired our surrondings. I then asked everyone to head back to some tables we had passed. Having successfully made our way through the ruins I unpacked a few cakes and passed out some very good juice and a few bottles of Fire Island Red wine, provided by our very own Quartermaster, so that we could celebrate Sir Aidan's Birthday! We toasted him and sampled the many cakes. Later saying our good byes and parting, for now.
