Subject: A patrol to find the Secret Garden in the Abyss
Attended by:
Sir Aidan, Knight
Sir Gregor Volkan, Knight
Ikon, Knight-Initiate
Sir Kenway tasked those listed above with going down into the Abyss and finding the secret garden. Sir Aidan, Ikon and myself met at Castle Hell Gate and after going over our gear we set off to the entrance to the Underworld. We cleared the gazers from around the two towers and then stepped into the Underworld. We were instantly met, and set upon, by cultists, hellish hounds and imps. We quickly and cleanly dispatched them and resumed our march through the broken halls. Sir Aidan and Ikon had accompanied me on my trials so we were all familiar with the way. Along the way we could not help but discuss what the broken halls might have looked like in days gone by. We fought our way through more cultists, undead skeletons, poison elementals on our way down to the Abyss. When Gargoyles started to engage us we knew we were close. We came upon the minotaur statues that guard the curving steps that lead down into the Abyss. Pausing for a moment we checked our equipment again before giving each other a nod and marching down into hell.
We followed the same path we had taken during my trial. We three worked well together. Fighting our way through the hellish landscape we made it to a bridge we had crossed last time. Again it felt we had to fight for each step we took. Monsters coming at us from all quarters. As we cleared the bridge we broke to the left and followed directions given to me by Sir Kenway. We were quickly set upon by a variety of gargyoles, their numbers seemed endless, and as our arms grew weary from swinging our weapons and blocking our enemeis blows we witnessed their ranks thinning out.
We cleared our enemeies from the field only to be set upon by a large winged humanoid. His attack was so sudden and vicious I feel he would have felled me had it not been for my Brothe Vigilants! We did not know why it attacked and my heart was heavy as we three landed blow after blow upon it, eventually felling it. Weary we looked around to find a pair of odd, darkly colored ankhs straddling a narrow path that lead to a bright, glowing cavern.
I offered to go and see if the shadowed winged shapes we could see in the distance would be hostile like the one at our feet. I do not have the words to describe the beauty of the secret garden, the flowers in bloom, the strange winged fey, large and small, even a unicorn. The Garden itself. In full bloom, here... deep in the Abyss I do not know how much time we spent there, walking along the rows of flowers. Enjoying the strange tranquility of the place. We discussed amongst ourselves this strange place. Sir Aidan was a bit guarded at first, the strange attack still fresh in his mind. Ikon and myself felt it migth be a hopeful sign that there was good in the Abyss. It is with great reluctance that we left that place, I hope to some day return
