Fifth Day, Final Dungeon!
We met in Narrowhaven at the chapter house forty five minutes after we had planned, due to Sir Adain and I being delayed. As the others made final preperations I went ahead. Our rune was not marked very close to the Keep and I wanted to draw neaer before using a waystone to pull the others. At the appointed time I pulled them to the Terathan Keep. We quickly cleared room after room of the surface part of the keep, engaging many terathans along the way. The halls and rooms were thick with webs and the teathans were adept at using the shadows to try and ambush us. The four of us fought well and quickly cleared the surface levels of the Keep. We made our way to entrance to the underground part of the Keep. No easy trick getting armored war horse down rope ladders, but we managed. We found more web laden halls, a large opening to the south and a narrow hall to the north. When asked which way to go Sir Aidan and Myrien quickly picked the norhtern hall. So we went that way. The narrow halls lead us to more halls and a large room filled with a balron, dragon and ophidians. We managed to clear the halls and the room, in another room we found a daemon and a drake....this is odd, all around Fire Island can be found drakes and daemons savagely fighting one another but here they did not seem to have that problem.
We pushed on and found a bridge to the west spanning a good sized river. We crossed and ran into various spiders in the following halls. We eventually came out into a large cavern or chamber, the center of it sunken and swamp like with many posion elementals roaming. The circling level we were on was thick with ophidians of various sorts. We fought our way around the room and noticed that a elevated walkway that ran out into the center of the cavern. Capt. Myrien and I went to take a look and found ourselves teleported into a stange chamber with a large fountain in the center. We had barely begun to investigate when we felt the tug of a waystone pulling us back to Sir Aidan and Siara. The ophidians had regrouped and were advancing on our mates. We were able to turn the tide and defeat the ophidians. We knew now that the Ophidians and Terathans were aware of our presence and staying too long in one spot was not a good idea.
We pushed on, this time taking a rough hewn tunnel that seemed to take us down even deeper below the Keep. We came out into a swampy pit filled with more poison elementals, which we dispatched. We made our way out of the pit and discovered a rope strung across it. We crossed and found a lever, which Sir aidan pulled, but we could not discover what it was attached to. We crossed the rope again and headed east into a very cavernous area. It was hard to navigate as the path was winding and often steep and narrow. We were forced to travel single file to squeeze past stalagmites. We encountered swampy pools with more poison elementals, numerous Ophidians and snakes of various sizes as well as more dragons and drakes and even a nightmare or two. We finally exited the tunnels only to find ourselves in a large cavern, the ground once again swampy and putrid. We could see the Keep ahead of us but there were many, many foes between us and it.. We formed up and began to fight our way back to the keep. All the Vigilants fought well and we were able to clear the cavern and once again reach the Keep. The ladders to the surface were before us. As we began to congratulate ourselves we were once again set upon by Terathans, but the Knight-Initiate was on her toes and thwarted the ambush almost before it began. We made our way back to Narrowhaven, and since Sir Aidan and I still had tribal paint on we suggested yet another run at Baracoon and his minions, after a few quick preperations we were off to the Ice dungeon. With four Vigilants we easily put down the piper and his rats..........Twice! Well done Vigilants! It was a busy week but a most enjoyable one.
